¹ú²ú̽»¨ University Receives Funding for Counselor Training

Dr. Kim Duris, a professor of psychology at ¹ú²ú̽»¨ University, has been awarded $278,000 in Phase 2 funding from the by the Illinois Certification Board and the Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Substance Use Prevention and Recovery.

The grant provides scholarships, internship stipends and comprehensive support for individuals pursuing the Certified Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor (CADC) certification. The program aims to combat workforce shortages and the overdose crisis by growing the number of trained addiction counselors. It supports students by reducing barriers to the resources they need to begin their careers.

As a CADC Workforce Expansion Program ATP school, ¹ú²ú̽»¨ University students will be eligible for financial assistance with tuition, internship stipends, textbook reimbursement, technology costs, transportation expenses, and dependent care fees. Eligible students may also apply for limited $1,150 conference scholarship to attend ICB’s Fall or Spring Member Conferences for networking and career development.
